Building Communities with Purpose

Louis Breland’s story is one of vision, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to creating lasting value for communities. A veteran of the homebuilding industry since 1975, Louis founded Breland Homes and grew it into the largest privately held builder in Alabama—three separate times—before selling to national firms including Washington Homes, D.R. Horton, and Lennar Corporation.

Beyond residential development, Louis also built and sold Safe Mini Storage, the largest private self-storage provider in the region. Today, through Breland Companies, he focuses on transformative commercial and mixed-use developments like Town Madison and Clift Farm, two master-planned communities that have reshaped Madison County.

These 500+ acre developments boast thousands of residential units and a dynamic mix of national and regional tenants—from Costco and Starbucks to Publix and Duluth Trading—bringing economic vitality and elevated lifestyle options to the Huntsville metro.

At the heart of Louis’s work is a deep dedication to giving back. Together with his wife Patti, he champions causes that support foster children, first responders, and wounded veterans. Their contributions include a permanent headquarters for Kids to Love and specially adapted homes through Helping a Hero.
